SUMMARY

The compensation analyst supports the implementation, administration, and development of compensation programs. This team member will provide compensation support and guidance to various global business units across multiple segments in the areas of equity and compensation, including but not limited to: annual merit and wage adjustments, salary surveys, job evaluations and incentive plan administration. This team member must also prepare analyses of complex financial data in support of recommendations to management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Support processes such as merit and wage increases, mid-year reviews and annual/quarterly incentive/bonus management
  • Participate in compensation surveys; complete salary survey work via research, data retrieval, data computation and data manipulation; Analyze results to ensure salary structure supports competitive compensation levels
  • Implementing, communicating and assisting with the design of incentive and base pay programs
  • Support various compensation projects, including the transitions from legacy practices into the Westlake compensation model;
  • Perform advanced financial analysis and cost-benefit analysis to determine financial impact of management initiatives and special projects
  • Preparation of the annual long-term incentive plan award allocation and general equity administration, including non-qualified stock options, restricted stock awards, restricted stock units, phantom units, and long-term cash performance awards
  • Prepare various monthly/quarterly reporting such as incentive accruals, payroll input files, and equity tracking/balancing reports
  • Maintain the relevant administrative procedures relative to the functions of this position; ensure accuracy of compensation-related data that is maintained within company information systems and databases
  • Respond to inquiries regarding compensation practices and procedures; provide support to HR Business Partners in resolving compensation-related questions and making recommendations to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned, including executive compensation analysis, and M&A activities
  • Assist with the research and review of compensation trends and best practices in order to structure current and future compensation and total reward programs
  • Support Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management
  • Answer incoming calls to the HR helpline and respond to questions received via email to the shared inbox
  • Perform the primary thinking encompassed by the job description

  • Perform other duties as and when assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Generally requires a bachelor’s degree with at least five years of experience
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) preferred
  • Experience in an analytical compensation role, including experience with annual merit cycles and incentive plan administration, preferred
  • Chemical, oil and gas, fabricated products, and/or general manufacturing industry experience preferred
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Able to work independently, and coordinate with colleagues in multiple locations world-wide
  • Flexible demeanor and ability to work as a team
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, high level of attention to detail and adaptability to changing business requirements
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, required
  • Workday experience preferred; MarketPay, E*TRADE Equity Edge Online, and SAP experience helpful

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office.  Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.  May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.  Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
