SUMMARY

This role is a senior level Chemist involved in project work and routine and non-routine sample testing during and post production. This role is viewed as an expert to other Chemists and others.  
    
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:

*     Carries out moderately complex procedures and experiments according to protocol and standard operating procedures in accordance with all regulatory requirements with minimal guidance.
*     May utilize new instrumentation and equipment, and develop procedures and methods for solution of technical problems.  
*     Safely handles regulated materials and chemicals according to company procedures and policies as required by the studies performed. 
*     Researches, analyzes, synthesizes, and experiments on substances, for such purposes as product and process development and application, quantitative and qualitative analysis, statistical analysis, process troubleshooting and improvement of analytical methodologies. 
*     Performs complex data evaluations, reviews the work of others, and writes technical reports and standard operating procedures and can make detailed complex technical presentations. 
*     Effectively communicates routinely with supervision, operations, shipping, customer service and peers to develop rapport and good working relationships and provides detailed technical report information verbally and in writing in a timely manner to the appropriate audience. 
*     Develops analytical standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, and testing. 


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

*     Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or advanced Chemistry degree,
*     Minimum of 5 or more years of industrial laboratory work experience.  
*     Knowledge of ISO 9001, GMP and NSF standard protocols are highly recommended.
*     Successful candidates must satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing & pre-employment physical requirements before starting work.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office.  Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.  May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.  Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
