DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Learn and perform basic preventative maintenance services
  • Assist with mechanical, electrical and control systems duties as required
  • Learn how to proactively predict the operational state of equipment, filters, oil, hydraulics, compressors, motors, pumps, plumbing and electrical systems and determine course of immediate and future action as needed to eliminate unscheduled downtime.
  • Assist with installation and setup of barrels and screws on all extruders.
  • Complete welding and fabrication work as needed, process repairs, improvements, and capital projects.
  • Learn FIIX Maintenance Module software to generate work orders, track labor, and consume materials/parts.
  • Make shift rounds at a minimum of once per shift to inspect Air Compressors, Chillers, Water Pumps, Storage Silos, Material Transfer Systems, Extrusion Equipment; Air, Water, and Electrical Systems and other Operation-Critical Equipment to insure functionality to required operational standards.
  • Learn how to resolve problems with equipment, leaks, and other deficiencies and act as needed
  • Assist with preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with the Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Training and development in troubleshooting PLC based control systems and making component adjustments and/or repairs.
  • Maintain high level of organization and high standards for housekeeping.
  • Make suggestions for improvements to safety, efficiency, and costs to management.
  • Attend and complete required curriculum through Technical College as outlined and required by the State Registered Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship Program.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • HSED Diploma or GED required.
  • Strong academic performance and interest in Industrial Maintenance Field
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems to determine root cause
  • Passion to learn and grow while building your skills and abilities
  • Self-motivation, dedication and drive to initiate and succeed
  • Positive attitude that can initiate self-driven activities
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Integrity, diversity and value teamwork
  • Must pass Admissions Placement Test at the designated Technical College to meet enrollment requirements
  • All tuition and books will be paid by the company upon enrollment.  Apprentice may be subject to reimbursing the Company educational expenses if unable to maintain a C average each semester or fails a class

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
