DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support company’s products at customers and build technical and commercial relationships with customers and grow business as a result.
- Provide expert technical support and advice to customers on technical issues in line with the customer’s needs and the marketing or manufacturing strategy/plans.
- Provide value added service to the customer by recommending materials and process solutions that also enhance supply position of Epoxy product offerings.
- Provide technical support to customers to optimize the application and use of Westlake epoxy systems in customer formulations and applications in line with customer needs and marketing or manufacturing plans.
- Support customers to optimize customer manufacturing processes that utilize epoxy system.
- Trouble-shoot and help to resolve customers’ technical problems.
- Maintain appreciation for IP protections and employ the assistance of marketing and/or legal to ensure appropriate information sharing without divulging trade secret information without appropriate protections in place (NDA’s, etc.).
- Identify customer needs through active listening and then determine how to proceed.
- Conduct Voice of Customer discussions and collects market, manufacturing, or competitor intelligence or conducts complex market or manufacturing intelligence studies and processes this information into proposals for potential R&D projects/market plans/manufacturing plans.
- Help implement development opportunities.
- Perform laboratory experiments and analysis adhering to safety and laboratory good practices.
- Work on experimental plans and customer-related technical support projects, applying high quality standards, and then communicates results to the customer.
- Compile, review, arrange, and interpret experimental data to reveal possible unambiguous relationships.
- Author and publish internal technology reports to summarize laboratory and project activities.
- Maintain timely, accurate and lab books in order to provide the records required to properly execute/address all IP questions and needs and to safeguard experimental data.
- Contribute to others’ projects in a proactive manner.
- Support technical Marcom initiatives using appropriate live and digital media.
- Prepare and deliver presentations / papers for internal and external customers and industry gatherings and webinars.
- Publish articles in reputable (e-)journals.
- Following company’s media communication rules, utilize social media platforms such as Linked-In to favorably position company and company’s Epoxy products and services.
- Carry out activities meeting EH&S standards and practices good housekeeping.
- Assist in indicating present and future technical/process/applications needs of the customers in North America.
- Receive technical guidance from R&D manager and work closely with the R&D team.
- In partnership with the sales and marketing team, build cross - functional relationships at the customer which essentially cover R & D, shop floor manufacturing and purchasing.
- Work with the R & D and Technical Teams in the EU and AP regions to update them on key commercial activities in the Americas.
- Work closely with the Market Development Manager to identify, develop and promote company products and offerings.
- Perform any additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree i in Chemistry, or related field.
- Minimum Experience Requirement: 3 years’ experience in technical sales with engineering support as a core capability; experience in composite technology; technical laboratory experience.
- Special Requirements: Any knowledge of end-use epoxy markets; composites, coatings, etc.; manufacturing processes to support customers at their facilities; analytical methods and techniques to interpret customer results and support NPD and other projects.
- Domestic travel 20% and International travel 10%.
