DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security policies
  • Monitor operating parameters and troubleshoot as needed
  • Develop, track and communicate KPIs
  • Participate actively in safety programs, promote safety rules and good housekeeping methods
  • Assist in development and tracking of Expense and Capital budgets
  • Participate in Turnaround Planning, Process Hazard Analysis, ISO activities, Incident Investigation, and other activities as appropriate
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement opportunities
  • Review, develop, and create Procedures
  • Provide technical assistance to maintenance and production groups as required
  • Maintain technical expertise and keep abreast of electrical technology/design changes as they apply to potential plant equipment/production improvements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • 2-5 years of experience preferred in a refinery, chemical or petrochemical plant performing engineering design responsibilities
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Aspen Process Explorer, and SAP
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills including an orientation to team development
  • Work well in a team environment, balance and prioritize multiple projects, and be able to provide effective technical presentations.
  • Basic understanding of process equipment design including pumps, heat exchangers, vessels, etc.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Successful candidates must satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing & pre-employment physical requirements before starting work.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office.  Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.  May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.  Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
