Job Description
SUMMARY
The Co-Op Engineer’s primary responsibility is assisting the Supervisor - HSE with the implementation and maintenance of the plant’s environmental programs and systems. This will include, but is not limited to; multi-media duties related to air and water permit compliance, hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal, and emission inventories. The position will also assist other departments within the plant with operational projects as they arise. All employees must demonstrate responsibility for quality in their job in reference to ISO 9001.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform surveys, laboratory and field-testing to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Assist with the preparation of daily, monthly, and annual reports mandated through various State and Federal environmental laws, regulations, and permits.
- Ensure record keeping activities are performed as required by regulation or permit.
- Assist the Supervisor - HSE with issues at other facilities as directed.
- Perform process improvement projects as directed by the Supervisor - HSE or other plant management.
- Gain understanding of plant processes and procedures.
- Demonstrates strong safety culture through personal behavior and commitment to environmental, health & safety; Adhere to and carry out all company environmental rules, polices, standards & procedures.
- Reports injuries, incidents and hazards to unit supervision as soon as reasonably possible.
- Conducts tasks with appropriate PPE as assigned.
- Responsible for personal safety and that of fellow employees.
- Other duties as assigned.
- EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be enrolled in an accredited university in Chemical Engineering.
- Must have completed second year of college.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
- Must be able to be available 2 consecutive semesters
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good computer skills
- The successful candidate, who receives a job offer, must present proof he or she is fully vaccinated for COVID-19 as a condition of employment prior to their start date.
