Job Title:                    Shipping (Forklift Operator)

Department:              Shipping

Reports to:                 S&OP Manager

FLSA Status:             Hourly, Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY

The Shipping forklift operator is responsible for yard maintenance, inventory, staging of loads, receiving, and shipping.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Available to work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule with overtime available.
  • Assuring no damaged items are sent or received.
  • Comparing picking list to product to ensure correct material is being used.
  • Input information into ERP system using scan gun.
  • Stage and inspect loads for shipment.
  • Load and unload flatbed trailers and containers.
  • Be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Operate and maintain a forklift license.
  • Cycle counts on yard inventory.
  • Keep all inventory 5s at all times.
  • Work with S&OP manager to maintain daily requirements loading trucks.
  • Hand stacking, wrapping, and strapping of molding.
  • Efficiently process paperwork.
  • Be able to effectively communicate to management with any problems.
  • Staging and loading orders at the direction of S&OP manager.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Cold, and wet weather gear will be provided.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong professional communication skills, both oral and in writing.
  • Strong organizational skills, detailed oriented, self-motivated, and ability to multi-task
  • Familiarity with safety programs
  • Excellent eye hand coordination.
  • Ability to maneuver oversized material in tight areas using a multi directional forklift.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee should have the following:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years' experience in a relevant field
  • Valid Driver’s License

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee should possess the ability to:

  • Prolonged standing or in a stationary position
  • Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that may require hearing protection
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (footwear, hearing, and vision)
  • High visibility vest or uniform.
  • Ability to lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
  • Must be able to ascend/descend stairs or ladders
  • Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
