HR Manager
Job Description
SUMMARY
Manage Calvert City’s site Human Resources department, including, Labor Relations, Public Affairs, and Training activities in a legally compliant, cost effective and efficient manner. This role is responsible for providing consultation, interpretation, and administration of HR policies and labor agreements for employees and managers on a day-to-day basis. The emphasis of the department will be to attract, retain and develop qualified individuals to meet current operational requirements and to provide for future Company growth.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with all employees to ensure productivity, attitude and morale remain at high levels, including regular plant visits throughout the units.
- Coach and advise management in all aspects of counseling, leadership, discipline, motivation, promotions, staffing, productivity, etc.
- Facilitate clear lines of communication between employees and management.
- Take an active role in counseling employees with regards to professional development, employee relations, labor relations, and discipline procedures.
- Manage and coordinate the performance review process for the site for both hourly and salaried employees.
- Coordinate the recruiting, interviewing and selection of new employees for exempt, non-exempt and hourly positions.
- Serve as contact person with outside agencies in the recruiting of professional level employees.
- Provide management and coordination of pre-employment processes involving background and reference checks as well as pre-employment physical examinations.
- Manage and continually improve all onboarding and offboarding activities.
- Coordinate with Corporate Centers of Excellence to effectively manage site HR function.
- Ensure industry competitiveness and promote high morale and productivity.
- Ensure facility compliance with all statutory and legislative requirements related to the HR function; minimize legal exposure in all HR matters.
- Manage the HR KPI reporting process.
- Manage Workday HRIS and Payroll system and processes for Calvert City.
- Maintain resources, locally and through the Corporate Training function, that are useful for employee training and development as well as conducting training sessions as required.
- Represent Human Resources Department at departmental communications meetings and professional, political and civic events.
- Responsible for Company social activities, special meetings, dinners, etc.
- Lead the development of Site Procedures that are understandable, relevant and which enhance efficiencies.
- Coordinate manpower projections and succession planning.
- Ensure compliance with all corporate policies and procedures.
- Perform duties in a manner that protects personal safety as well as the safety of all personnel on site. Whenever appropriate, promptly report Safety, Health or Environmental incidents or issues to management so the situation can be corrected.
- Special projects as required or assigned. Some travel is required.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- B.S. degree in Industrial Relations, Labor Relations, Business Management, or Business Administration or related fields
- 10 years progressive HR experience in all functional areas including Labor Relations, Recruiting and Staffing, Salary Administration and Benefit Administration.
- 3 years supervisory experience.
- High level of interpersonal skills and integrity, ability to influence and lead others, maintain collaborative partnerships and provide strategic leadership for the site.
- Knowledge of best practices and HR law, policies and procedures.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This job is performed mainly in an office setting; physical presence is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; have full use and range of motion of arms, hands and fingers to reach, grasp, hold, push or pull, twist, and work with tools; and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to perform tasks that may require bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. The employee must be able to move safely over uneven terrain. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to see details of objects that are more/less than a few feet away; see differences between colors, shades and brightness and determine the distance between objects. This job requires response to audible emergency alarms inside of the plant. Employee must be able to evacuate when required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee must be able to work in a normal factory environment, including enclosed spaces and exposure to various hazards. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, flame retardant clothing, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel will occasionally be required.
