This position will initially have heavy emphasis on employee relations and recruitment.  This role will partner with plant operations while working closely with other key leaders and executive HR management.  Under general direction this position will facilitate daily operations and activities of Human Resources in plant manufacturing environment, including recruitment, job classification, compensation, benefits administration, employee training and development, workers’ compensation, and employee and labor relations.  Additionally, they will assist the HR departmental and plant specific planning activities to improve organizational productivity and employee customer service.  Supervises the Human Resources Coordinator.

 

Under general direction, plans, schedules, assigns, and participates in the daily operations and activities of Human Resources in plant manufacturing environment, including recruitment, classification, compensation, benefits administration, employee training and development, workers’ compensation, and employee and labor relations; assists in HR departmental and plant specific planning activities to improve organizational productivity and employee customer service 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

  • Comply with Safety Policies and Procedures  

  • Lead and promote HR initiatives and programs that align with corporate goals and values 

  • Oversee the development and implementation of sound recruitment, testing, and selection Performs job analysis and classification studies of new and existing positions 

  • Designs and writes new and modifies existing classification specifications as appropriate 

  • Conducts compensation studies, determines appropriate internal and external comparators, and makes recommendations processes, including evaluating recruitment materials and sources 

  • Conduct workplace investigations; write various notices and related correspondence for General Counsel review and approval; make recommendations to the General Manager and General Counsel; coach managers and supervisors regarding the conduct of termination meetings and serve as witness to terminations 

  • May prepare and present regulatory and staff reports and other written materials 

  • Attend and participate in professional group meetings and committees; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of human resources administration 

  • Oversee on-site Orientation and Training for all new hires 

  • Review bi-weekly Payroll for hourly and salary employees 

  • Provides data management and analytics approaches to meet the day-to-day organization's requirements and provide data driven support 

  • Possess outstanding conflict resolution and communication skills; and resolve complex issues 

  • Counseling employees and supervisors on employment related matters; and clarifying agency policies and procedures as needed 

  • Monitors operations and activities of assigned staff; identifies opportunities for improving service, delivery methods and procedures; provides recommendations concerning process changes; reviews with appropriate management staff; implements improvements

Principles, practices, and techniques of human resources, including recruitment and selection, equal employment opportunity, and affirmative action; job analysis and classification; compensation analysis and administration; benefits administration, workers’ compensation; employee and labor relations, including negotiations and the interpretation of laws, regulations, policies, and procedures 

  • Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulatory codes, ordinances, and procedures relevant to assigned area of responsibility 

  • Ability to assist in developing and implementing goals, objectives, practices, policies, procedures, and work standards 
    Ability to supervise, train, plan, organize, schedule, assign, review, and evaluate the work of staff 

  • Ability to travel up to 40% at time with short notice, is required 

  • Ability to organize, implement, and direct assigned human resources programs and activities 

  • Ability to interpret, apply, explain, and ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local policies 

  • Ability to Understand, interpret, and successfully communicate both orally and in writing pertinent department policies and procedures 

  • Ability to identify problems, research and analyze relevant information, and develop and present 

  • Ability to recommendations and justifications for solution  

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive personal information of applicants, employees, and former employees 

  • Ability to conduct complex research projects, evaluate alternatives, make sound recommendations, and prepare effective technical staff reports. 

  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence, procedures, and other written materials 

  • Ability to establish and maintain a variety of manual and computerized files, record keeping, and project management systems 

  • Ability to make sound, independent decisions within established policy and procedural guidelines 

  • Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner 

  • Ability to establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted during work 

  • HRIS experience required, preferably Workday 

  • Bilingual (required) 

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 

The employee should have the following: 

 

  • Bachelor's degree  

  • 5 years' experience in functional role

The employee should possess the ability to:  

  • Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable 

  • Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out  

  • Prolong standing or in stationary position

  • Bend and/or twist  

  • Move or traverse about the facilities 

  • Work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions 

  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection)
