Job Description

The maintenance supervisor supervises the maintenance and repair of instrument and electrical facilities in Plant and general maintenance activities.  The maintenance supervisor performs the primary thinking encompassed by this job description, complies with all Company policies and procedures, and fully supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management as well as active participation on project teams.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs the work of instrument technicians, insulators, and electricians.
  • Cross-trains instrument technicians and electricians to qualify in both areas. Evaluates proficiency yearly.
  • Plans the annual and periodic preventive maintenance schedule for instrument and electrical equipment in the Plant.
  • Plans and supervises electrical, instrument, and insulator work during outages to keep downtime to a minimum.
  • Supervises all crafts in maintenance department in the performance of repairs and preventive maintenance to all mechanical equipment.
  • Analyzes problems in malfunctioning units in Plant.
  • Establishes standard maintenance procedures.
  • Requests major repair parts, materials and equipment for normal repairing and turnaround jobs.
  • Makes recommendations and executes approved modifications to equipment.
  • Organizes effective workforce for twenty-four hours maintenance capability.
  • Recommends necessary spare parts for major equipment in the Plant.
  • Plans and carries out preventive maintenance and repair maintenance work.
  • Contacts vendors to provide technical assistance required to obtain comparable bids on purchases of installation of equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • College Graduate preferred.
  • Additional Electronics/Instrumentation training preferred. 
  • Five years "hands on" experience in Plant Maintenance of instrumentation/electrical system.
