Job Description

Under the direction and support of the site Purchasing Supervisor, the Materials Coordinator II organizes, supervises, and monitors Westlake storeroom activities, including supervision of storeroom personnel, maintaining sufficient inventory and inventory records, resolving shipment errors and ensuring ready access to items by storeroom customers.   The Materials Coordinator II performs the primary thinking encompassed by this job description, complies with all Company policies and procedures, and fully supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management as well as active participation on project teams.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Ensure the storeroom is adequately stocked by ordering by phone, email or fax, storeroom items which are on blanket orders.  
  • Maintain computer inventory records to assist in inventory control.
  • Under the direction and support of the site Purchasing Manager, trains, monitors, supervises, and assists storeroom personnel in performance of their duties.
  • Resolve errors with vendor shipments and forwards information to Purchasing supervision for inclusion in vendor files for evaluation purposes.
  • Maintain pertinent records such as packing lists and receivers lists.
  • Handle administrative duties for storeroom personnel including scheduling of overtime, maintaining timesheets and, under the direction and support of the site Purchasing Manager,  reviewing work performance.
  • Ensure that in-plant deliveries of materials are made in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure that outgoing shipments are scheduled and shipments made as specified.
  • Sets up new items in storeroom, making minimum/maximum adjustments or material changes as requested.
  • Forwards necessary paperwork to Accounting Department for processing.
  • Arranges for shipment of repairable storeroom items such as motors, seals and compressor units.
  • Perform other duties as requested by Purchasing management to assure effective and efficient operation of the Department.
  • Organizes physical inventory and inventory cycle counting of the storeroom.
  • Comply with all Stores Policies & Procedures, and DOA requirements as they relate to Stores activity.
  • Responsible for minimizing inventory variance in conjunction with annual Stores audit.         

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. in Business related field preferred, or progressive experience acceptable to management. 
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to utilize PC and experience in general software applications such as Excel, Word, etc.
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred
