Summary: Enforce all quality standards in accordance with Westlake policy, National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) requirements, ASTM criteria, and those requirements of other applicable agencies. Monitor and evaluate the activities of other inspectors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

The primary responsibility of the QC Technician Lead is to safely and efficiently perform top-quality operational duties on a daily basis which include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Dimension fittings using precision measuring equipment. 
  • Audit and maintain Quality Control records (manually or with computer).
  • Identify, investigate and resolve noncompliance production issues.
  • Perform quality assurance testing and record results. 
  • Assist in scheduling work of other QC/QA employees.
  • Perform equipment calibration, and enter results in database.
  • Send test equipment to outside vendors for repair or calibration as required. Perform long term hydrostatic testing as required.
  • Conduct defect trend analysis investigations using computer as needed.
  • Assist engineering in evaluating new tooling and products using test methods from ASTM or other sources.
  • Assist in evaluation of customer returns.
  • Filing, maintaining a clean work area, processing product on hold, other duties as assigned by management.

Supervisory Responsibilities: All QC personnel, in absence of QC Supervisor.

Qualifications: Understand all Quality Control functions and department functions.

Education and/or Experience: High School or equivalent.  Minimum two years or equivalent quality control experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend sufficient English to follow work instructions. Legible writing.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic mathematics including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and averaging with both whole and fractional numbers.

Reasoning Ability: Capable of accurately making dimensional measurements using precision measuring equipment. Reasoning capabilities to apply specifications and tolerances in decision making situations.

Good, corrected vision and hearing. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, up to 70% during working hours. Must be able to work with limited supervision.

  • General Job Duties: PART IDENTIFICATION, PROPER USE OF GO/NO GO GAUGES, CLEAR UNDERSTANDING OF TOLERANCES etc.
  • Line Operation: UNDERSTANDING OF HOW TO CONTACT MANUFACTURING AND/OR WAREHOUSE PERSONNEL WHEN AN ISSUE IS DISCOVERED WITH PARTS
  • Quality Control & Auditing: DOCUMENTING INSPECTION LOGS AND HOLD PAPERWORK
