SUMMARY

This position is responsible for maintaining an effective training program for the Maintenance and Reliability Department to oversee the safety and technical needs compliance for the department. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain and coordinate all training for mechanics, electricians, planners, specialists and engineers.
  • Maintain existing maintenance procedures and OJT modules for the mechanics and electricians.
  • Write maintenance "how to" procedures and coordinate the maintenance procedure writing initiative. Help with the research and the creation or correction of the required drawings/attachments. Link the documents in SAP.
  • Train employees on commonly used SAP transitions in the maintenance organization.
  • Train employees on commonly used Meridium applications.
  • Maintains knowledge of tool management software and oversees process for data entry and function.
  • Train employees on common functions of tool management system.
  • Familiarize the mechanics, electricians and planners with Westlake standards and procedures.
  • Provide training on critical plant tasks, such as high-pressure connection training.
  • Coordinate training sessions with outside resources for the mechanics, electricians and planners.
  • Maintain knowledge of all updates to Maintenance Safety procedures (GOP-S-27, ASPM section 3,4,5,6 and all Westlake Safety procedures that pertain to maintenance.
  • Ensure the Maintenance HSE Annual Training meets the minimum as defined by ASPM Section 4.
  • Coordinates and oversees the success of the annual Eastman Maintenance Shape Audit and has ownership for any action items from this audit.
  • Provides ownership for all HSE Inspections for the maintenance building.
  • Participates in Crew Safety Projects.
  • Performs Field Compliance Audits. PPE, LOTO, Permits, and tool condition.
  • Performs Job observations for line of fire, heat stress etc. and recommends improvements.
  • Assist in Maintenance Safety Meetings.
  • Enforces good Housekeeping in the field and at the shop.
  • Maintains maintenance shop emergency plan and coordinates semiannual drills.
  • Works with HSE department to maintain the maintenance PPE matrix.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least ten years of field experience in industrial maintenance or training program implementation, preferably in a petrochemical facility.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job is performed mainly in control room or office setting; physical presence is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk;  have full use and range of motion of arms, hands and fingers to reach, grasp, hold, push or pull, twist, and work with tools; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to  perform tasks that may require bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, lying down or working from elevated platforms. The employee must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to see details of objects that are more/less than a few feet away; see differences between colors, shades and brightness and determine the distance between objects. This job requires response to audible emergency alarms inside of the plant.  Employee must be able to evacuate when required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee must be able to work in a normal factory environment, including enclosed spaces and exposure to various hazards. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office.  Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, flame retardant clothing, etc.  May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.  Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
