Job Description
SUMMARY
Responsible to lead the Control Systems and IT groups serving the Longview Texas facility. The Control Systems group is responsible for the DCS, SIS, and PLC hardware, software, graphics, and configuration across the site, as well as maintaining the OT network and cybersecurity administration. The IT group is responsible for network administration, applications server administration, IT hardware for site personnel, and user support.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Supervise and assign work to Control Systems Engineers and Analysts; IT Admins, Analysts, and Technicians.
- Oversee training and career growth of Control Systems and IT department personnel.
- Develop goals for the department and for individual personnel; provide performance evaluations.
- Manage department on-call rotation schedule assignments, vacation approval, and expense statements for department personnel.
- Prepare annual expense budgets for department to meet development goals and improvement plans.
- Provide input into the capital budget for all Control System life-cycle planning and IT upgrade plans.
- Provide leadership to the department for continuous improvement against industry standards specific to Safety Instrumented Systems, Alarm Management, Cybersecurity, and Performance Graphics.
- Provide leadership to the department for continuous improvement for technology adoption and application deployment.
- Fulfill the role of local OT Cybersecurity Administrator leading the site to comply with industry standards and Westlake cyber policies along with OT Analysts.
- Manage maintenance and service contracts for local software and hardware systems.
- Participate in the on-call rotation throughout the year for after-hours support with department personnel.
- Perform special projects as assigned.
- Perform duties in a manner that protects personal safety as well as the safety of all personnel on site. Whenever appropriate, promptly report safety, health or environmental incidents or issues to management so the situation can be corrected. Attend monthly safety meetings to help prevent off site and job accidents.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field from an ABET accredited program.
- Five-years’ experience working on control systems in an industrial or manufacturing facility.
- Desired Qualifications
- Two years direct supervisory experience.
- Experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS, DeltaV SIS, DeltaV Live, and Allen Bradley PLC systems and HMIs.
- Exida Certified Functional Safety Professional (CFSP).
- ISA 62443 Cybersecurity Certifications.
- Project management skills, including leading, organizing, tracking, reporting and record keeping for primary capital initiatives.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This job is performed mainly in control room or office setting; physical presence is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; have full use and range of motion of arms, hands and fingers to reach, grasp, hold, push or pull, twist, and work with tools; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to perform tasks that may require bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, lying down or working from elevated platforms. The employee must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 5 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to see details of objects that are more/less than a few feet away; see differences between colors, shades and brightness and determine the distance between objects. This job requires response to audible emergency alarms inside of the plant. Employee must be able to evacuate when required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee must be able to work in a normal factory environment, including enclosed spaces and exposure to various hazards. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, flame retardant clothing, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
