SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for utilizing the Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) in addressing activities that support safety, environmental and production standards for the C/A Unit.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Demonstrates strong safety culture through personal behavior and commitment to environmental, health & safety.
  • Ensures clearly defined, roles and responsibilities are communicated and reviewed annually to operations personnel for environmental, health & safety.
  • Ensures that operations personnel are annually evaluated the health and safety of operations personnel.
  • Works with HSE department to ensure proper safety training materials are appropriate to operations’ personnel hazards and tasks.
  • Ensures timely reporting of all incidents, injuries and hazards within area of responsibility.
  • Provide oversight of operations and maintenance activities in the area to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and/or company policy governing worker health and safety and environmental stewardship
  • Monitor daily operation and maintenance of the area. Coordinate a response to deviations from normal process behavior.
  • Participate in the maintenance process by generating work requests, purchase requisitions, providing input to maintenance planning & scheduling tasks priority, coordinate closely with operations and maintenance personnel regarding equipment isolation & repair. Perform call outs as necessary & supervise technicians engaged in minor maintenance activity.
  • Execute the elements of the unit’s safety program including routine housekeeping, safety equipment inspections, control of hazardous energy, etc. in order to minimize injuries, safety incidents and eliminate OSHA recordables and lost time injuries. Seek timely solutions to emerging safety concerns. Conduct daily and monthly safety meetings.
  • Communicate regularly with unit management and counterparts in other units.
  • Monitor inventory of critical operating supplies and some equipment and/or parts in the C/A unit
  • Provide training oversight and opportunities for operations personnel.
  • Provide feedback for revision of operating procedures.
  • Participate in planning, shutdown, isolation, repair, and startup activities for major maintenance outages, turnaround, and other unplanned outages
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and application to the area
  • Provide backup maintenance work order validation
  • Assist reviewing and maintaining production, environmental, training, PSM procedures, etc.
  • Other duties & responsibilities as identified by management/supervision

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree is desired; High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the operation of a chemical facility.  ChlorAlkali experience is highly preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role or equivalent position is required
  • Computer competency in spreadsheets and word processing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership traits and a positive/optimistic attitude
  • Able to work with people in various levels within the company in a team environment
