Technical Service Engineer II
Job Description
SUMMARY
This position utilizes technical service to support compound sales efforts by investigating problems and recommending solutions. This customer-focused role is important to ensure Westlake Compounds understands and meets their existing and future internal and external customers’ ever-changing needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide technical services to customers in the form of product trials, technical reviews and seminars, and onsite customer troubleshooting
- Partner with sales to maintain existing customers and generate new business opportunities
- Conduct customer trials to support development efforts to generate new products and improve existing products
- Provide training to customers, as needed
- Investigate, solve and optimize customer processing
- Continually benchmark Westlake’s compound products by working with the development team
- Maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders (technology, operations staff) at customer account
- Perform additional duties as assigned
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in science, chemistry or engineering is required
- A minimum of 5 years of experience is required - including:
- Processing experience and/ or compounding in flexible PVC
- Formulating knowledge in flexible PVC
- Process troubleshooting in flexible PVC
- NSF and UL requirements
- Customer Trials, technical reviews and seminars, onsite customer troubleshooting
- Must be able to travel up to 50-75%
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and work on a computer, stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work in office, plant and lab environment. Manufacturing environment includes: dust, outdoors, high noise levels and high temperatures.
