Job Description

JOB SUMMARY 

The Welder is responsible for laying out, aligning and welding mainly vinyl and aluminum frames by using welding equipment or hand tools. This role is in charge of laying out frames as well as assemble according to the requirements of the assignment. The Welder applies appropriate welding processes to join, surface, and fabricate frame parts of metal or vinyl according to layouts and work orders. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Comply with Westlake Safety Policies  

  • Regular attendance, timeliness and scheduling flexibility 

  • Applies appropriate welding processes to join frames. 

  • Maintain welding equipment through regular welding equipment maintenance. 

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities requested by the supervisor. 

  • Use of hand and power tools. 

  • Fit and align fabricated frames to be welded or assembled. 

  • Align parts or workpieces to ensure proper assembly. 

  • Moves parts and heavy frames on and off machinery. 

  • Lays out, positions, aligns and fits frames or parts together in various body positions. 

  • Prepare and execute order fulfillment. 

  • Fit and weld complex assemblies. 

  • May inspect completed work for conformance to specifications. 

  • Set up work as required for welding. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

  • Ability to follow all safety and environmental protection rules. 

  • Basic knowledge on how to read a tape measure. 

  • Team player and goal oriented. 

  • Excellent detailing skills. 

  • General knowledge of how tools operate. 

  • Ability to work without supervision. 

  • Knowledge on working with various welding and finishing equipment. 

  • Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy. 

  • Make decisions based on measurable criteria. 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 

  • Welding experience preferred (Preferred) 

  • 1 year of manufacturing (Required) 

 

 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT 

The employee should possess the ability to: 

  • Be exposed to temperature extremes inside or out. 

  • Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable. 

  • Prolong standing for up to 12 hours performing shift work or in a stationary position. 

  • Complete repetitive movements. 

  • Bend or twist.  

  • Wear all required personal protective equipment. 

  • Work in constant noise above 85 decibels. 

  • Handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. 

  • Lift/move up to 50 pounds. 

  • Remove or replace items up to 50 pounds. 

  • Ascend or descend stairs.
